In the eighteenth century, the Kings of Spain established by means of an abundant legislation, an asylum policy for the slaves who flee from other Kingdoms to the Spaniards territories. This research trace the origins of this policy and is possible to establish a relationship with the principle of "free soil". We affirm that the Spanish legislation on slavery have an strong influence across the Atlantic world and beyond.
