イエメンの都市と広場についての考察 : 1994～1995年第5回海外都市広場調査報告

Yemen is one of the islamic countries in the arabic world. This report is the introduction of Shibam, Sana\u27a and some other cities in Yemen. Both two cities have million years history. Sana\u27a is the capital of the republic of Yemen. Sana\u27a and Shibam are both old cities that have had city wall in old time. Now in Sana\u27a there is only small part of old city wall. But in Shibam there are almost perfect style of old city wall. The city elements of Sana\u27a are (1) city wall and city gate (2) highrised houses (3) sooq and square (4) mosque and minaret (5) han and hammamu (6) shitader (7) walled garden (8) wadi. The city elements of Shibam are (1) city wall and city gate (2) highrised houses (3) sooq and square (4) mosque and minaret (5) palace. The size of two cities are different. Sana\u27a is bigger than Shibam but these two cities are similar to each other. One of the similarity of the cities in Yemen is tower house. And the other one is hilltop city
