There are seven species of sea turtles, all threatened or in risk of extinction. Studies with mitochondrial DNA have allowed the understanding of phylogeny, evolution, migration routes, scattering centers, identification of polymorphisms and haplotypes, being the basis for management and conservation plans. In this study we did the first compared description between primary and secondary structures of the mitochondrial ARNtTrp of sea turtles. A multiple alignment of 26 sequences of the gene coding for ARNtTrp was performed and a secondary structure was proposed using ARWEN.
