Vers des Modèles Couplés Océan-Atmosphère

The Earth's climate is determined by complex interactions between the Ocean, the Atmosphere and the Cryosphere (snow, seaice, glaciers). The ENSO phenomenon (El Nino-Southern Oscillation), which represents but one known type of Ocean-Atmosphere interaction, is briefly described. The role of the oceans as a heat buffer capable of slowing down the warming (or cooling) of the atmosphere is also discussed. Finally, some of the weaknesses of current and future climate models are also mentioned. Résumé Le climat terrestre est régi par des interactions complexes entre l'Océan, l'Atmosphère et la Cryosphère (neige, glace, glaciers). Le phénomène ENSO (El Nino-Southern Oscillation), qui ne représente qu'un type connu d'interaction Océan-Atmosphère, est brièvement décrit. Le rôle des océans en tant que tampon thermique capable de ralentir le réchauffement (ou refroidissement) de l'atmosphère est également discuté. Finalement, quelques-uns des points faibles des modèles climatiques présents et futurs sont mentionnés
