A internet e a (des)politização dos jovens brasileiros

Similar to what is happening in the world, Brazil is becoming an information society, where almost half of the population is connected to the Internet. This data produces debates about the impact of the internet as an agencyt of political socialization. On the one hand it is suggested that there is a process of structuring a more politicized and assertive political culture and, on the other hand, its impact tends to be more negative, since it would be producing intolerance and political dogmatism among young people. The purpose of this paper is to analyze whether the use of the Internet and its social networks are affecting attitudes and political behaviors of the young people and what kind of political culture has been constituted. The data used to test the hypothesis come from quantitative surveys conducted by NUPESAL/UFRGS in three Brazilian cities (Porto Alegre, Florianópolis and Curitiba) in 2015 and 2016, with 2035 young citizens 13 to 24 years-old.À semelhança do que está acontecendo no mundo, o Brasil está se tornando uma sociedade da informação, onde quase metade da população está conectada na internet. Esses dados proporcionam debates sobre o impacto desta como uma agência relevante de socialização política. Sugere-se, por um lado, que estaria em andamento a estruturação de uma cultura política mais politizada e assertiva, e por outro, argumenta- -se que o impacto tende a ser mais negativo, uma vez que estaria se produzindo intolerância e dogmatismo político entre os jovens. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar se o uso da internet e suas redes sociais estão afetando as atitudes e os comportamentos políticos dos jovens e que tipo de cultura política está se constituindo. Os dados utilizados para testar a hipótese provêm de pesquisas quantitativas realizadas em três cidades do Sul do Brasil em 2015/2016, com 2035 jovens de 13 a 24 anos, pelo NUPESAL/UFRGS
