This article deals with the metaphysical aspect of Victor Hugo’s poetry. During the French Romantic Period, Victor Hugo personifies in an extraordinary way the myth of the clairvoyant and visionary poet. In this perspective, the poet not only has the mission to make visible, through poetic language, the transcending universe, but also becomes himself a guide to humanity, assuming a moral, social, religious and prophetic mission.
