Various antibiotics are in use today. In spite of their effectiveness, many case reports of intracranial abscess caused by odontogenic infections are frequently found in the literatures. This seems to indicate the complexities of diagnosis and treatment of serious infections in the maxillofacial area. These complexities are explained from a view point of regional anatomy and oral microbiology in this paper
