Para una estrategia de conservación del patrimonio cultural del Cementerio General de Camagüey

The purpose of restoring the cemetery from Camagüey city was the leitmotiv for a diagnosis on its cultural heritage state and potentialities. The population incidence on the site, the existing conditions for the development of its inherent and incidental services, tourism, and technical infrastructure, the environment situation, as well as the legislation and its relation to the province structure were also diagnosed. Results showed the main causes of the cemetery deterioration. The need of updating inventories and policies for an intervention in the site and performing a quantitative and material assessment of the cemetery values was evidenced.Se diagnosticó el estado del patrimonio cultural y de las potencialidades del cementerio de Camagüey, Cuba, para su rescate, así como la incidencia de la población en el sitio, las condiciones para el desarrollo de los servicios propios y los incidentales, el turismo, la infraestructura técnica, la situación del medio ambiente, lo referente a la legislación y su relación con la estructura del territorio. Como resultado se obtuvieron las causas principales de deterioro del camposanto. Se evidenció la necesidad de actualizar inventarios y políticas a la hora de realizar la estrategia conducente a la intervención del sitio, así como de valorar cuantitativa y materialmente estos bienes
