Abstract

Gastrointestinal parasitization performance among different swine categories at state owned farms and from private producers was compared. 170 animals from state swine-rearing units and 170 reared by private producers in Camagüey province, Cuba, were sampled. Data were processed by the SPSS program (version 10.0) from 1999 using contingency tables. The chi-square test was applied to determine if significant differences concerning gastrointestinal parasitization between state and private reared swines and their categories were present. Swines reared by private producers were the most affected by gastrointestinal parasities.
