Abstract: This article examines the flow of international television and draws on a variety of sources. It argues that traditional concepts of the patterns of distribution of international television are in need of revision and that what one is witnessing as television expands is nevertheless a parochialism that has long characterized the preferences of audiences. Patterns of Canadian television viewing are employed as a somewhat paradoxical case study to support the thesis.
