EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE : The Study on the Process of Cognition : A Sociological Approach(Cultural and Social science)

P(論文)The object of this study is to define the process of acquiring cognition and the nature of this cognition of early childhood education and care (about which the future teachers will hopefully learn in the course of their college education). In studying this process of cognition, a sociological approach will be employed. The students obtain this awareness not only through lectures, seminars and actual training (i.e. student teaching) in college, but also through various activities and experiences outside school. Diversified past experiences of students will also have a great influence on their cognitive development. However, it will be more important and beneficial to study how the given education in college affects the way these future teachers acquire an awareness of early childhood education and care. Since we teachers come into direct contact with them only through lectures, seminars and practical training in school, we must educate them to be better pre-school teachers by giving them a better cognition of early childhood education and care. In this sense, we are responsible for the development of an effective curriculum to achieve this end. In drawing up a curriculum, it is very important to know the students' actual cognitive process and the nature of this awareness.
