Η Αγγλική και Ιταλική Γλώσσα στις Σχολές Επιστημών Υγείας: Μια Εμπειρική Έρευνα Συσχέτισης

This paper presents the initial stages of a syllabus design for English and Italian languages in the Department of Dentistry in the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. To define the content of the syllabus we had to know the students’ profile, the learning needs, attitudes and the degree of language proficiency. For a systematic analysis of the teaching/learning field we adopted the use of questionnaires and selected our sample in two stages. The questionnaires contained the subsequent categories of questions determining: (i) the social characteristics (ii) the educational characteristics (iii) students' self-assessment of language abilities related to (iv) a diagnostic test. So far, the data analysis has shown that the students: (i) ignore the specific language as natural speakers (ii) they represent pluralistic attitudes in their choice of a foreign language (iii) weak students only evaluate themselves objectively in relation to the diagnostic test (iv) they represent pluralism in their priorities in the specific and general language and (v) they are aware of their learning lacks
