During the last almost 30 years -the post-junta μεταπολίτευση period - Greek society has undergone a number of profound political and social changes. Modern Greek also marched onto a new stage of its evolution, especially after the historic recognition of Δημοτική as the standard. Several researchers have pointed to various aspects of Modern Greek, as the loci of the ongoing reshaping of the language. In this paper, I will attempt to bring together and interpret the findings of most of these studies, in an effort to present a true, up to date picture of the Modern Greek language, and, possibly, project its future direction
