Construction parameters of a medium voltage (MV) cable joint were examined in order to reduce the electric field magnitude inside the joint. The joint was covered with a heat shrinkable tube made of two or three layers. The permittivity of the layers was varied. The termination angle of the cable dielectric was also considered
