Between the years 1975-1982 the authors, an enthomologist and a botanist, studied the phytophagous and zoophagous insects found in inflorescences of Compositae (Asteraceae). 44 host species, beloging to 24 genera were studied, 6122 phytophagous and zoophagous insect specimens were collected from Physanoptera (965), Coleoptera (325), Lepidoptera (155), Hymenoptera (1921) and Diptera (2753). The proportion between the phytophagous and zoophagous insects was about 2:1
