June Hartley Howe reminisces about her parents moving to Hamilton, Montana, in 1904 and her father’s establishment of the Bitterroot Steam Laundry. She recalls life in early 20th century Hamilton and describes the town’s hotels, including the fire that destroyed the Ravalli Hotel. She discusses local businesses, including Valley Mercantile and Lucas Opera House, as well as the red-light district.
