Calvin Cal Murphy Interview, September 4, 1991

Calvin Cal Murphy describes his time at the University of Montana (UM) starting as a student in 1942, then as an employee in 1949 until his retirement in 1981. He talks about the various positions he held including fee clerk, business manager, and business manager of auxiliary enterprises. He also recalls being the president of the University Credit Union after his retirement. Murphy discusses the changes to UM buildings, roads and dining services in addition to changes to its accounting practices and procedures, especially with the advent of computers. He notes the changes in student attitudes during the 1960s counter-culture movement. Murphy mentions the various presidents under which he worked including James McCain and Richard Bowers.
