Dr. Richard Solberg describes the function of the University of Montana’s Biological Research Station at Yellow Bay, Montana. He explains that the laboratory is named after the founder of the biological station in 1897, Morton J. Elrod. Solberg describes Elrod’s contribution to ecological science in Montana, and describes the history of the research station. He also talks about the research being conducted at the station at the time of the interview, especially the study of freshwater ecosystems. He outlines the ways in which such environmental research can guide future decisions about resource extraction and environmental alteration by humans.https://scholarworks.umt.edu/umhistory_interviews/1032/thumbnail.jp
