Mary Jane Morin Interview, October 4, 1999

Mary Jane Adams Morin describes her childhood in Garnet, Montana, during the early 20th century. She recalls her father’s many professions including owning and operating the Adams Mercantile in Garnet, mining, and doing timber work in the mine tunnels. She talks about her family’s holiday traditions, birthday celebrations, and picnics at Warren\u27s Park. Morin reminisces about exploring abandoned cabins around Garnet, attending school, and spending time with miners and prospectors. She recalls the home remedies her mother used, the garden she raised, and the kinds of food that were available to Garnet residents, including wild game and birds. Morin describes her family’s relocation to Missoula, Montana, when she was ten years old and her return to Garnet during the 1940s. She discusses other residents who remained in Garnet including: Charley Meyers, Johnny Stuart and Frank Davey.
