Gordon Browder Interview, July 27, 2006

Gordon Browder, retired professor and chair of the University of Montana Sociology Department, discusses coming to the University in 1947 after teaching at the University of Florida. Browder talks about the early days of the department, the increase in the University’s student population following World War Two, and various research interests within the department. Browder also discusses the hippie generation, student uprisings, and how the University of Montana was somewhat shielded from extreme uprisings going on around the country during the 1960s and ‘70s.
