Ten years ago, on Tuesday, 3 May 2005, I was privileged to attend the Centenary Eucharist and Presentation of the Lambeth Diploma and MA Degrees in the Lambeth Palace Chapel. Looking back, it was an occasion of great moment, not just for me personally. We were fortune that the date of our graduation coincided with the centenary of the creation of the Lambeth diploma, a qualification now superseded by the MPhil and PhD—and indeed the MA itself was also later to be phased out.
