Understanding your communities need and tailoring programming based on those needs can be challenging for all, particularly for early-career librarians. In this presentation, I will speak about my unique experience at the Ramona Library, a San Diego County Library branch, as a librarian tasked with creating programs for a rural community. During this presentation examples of staff collegiality in addressing and embracing the culture of the community will be discussed in addition to its benefits pertaining to professional self-care.
