História do processo de pré-implementação das duas reservas marinhas para pesca previstas na ilha de Tenerife, Canárias, Espanha

The variety of purposes pursued by the Marine Protected Areas refers to the need toanalyze the interests that justify them and the means used to achieve them, in orderto establish their real utility. The first proposals for marine reserves in Tenerife beganin 1980 and they have not been yet developed and are still on paper. By analyzing documentarysources, interviews and participant observations, it was recovered the historicalprocess of these projects with the aim of detecting interactions and initiatives that contributedto the change in images, goals and interests of the respondents. One of the keyfactors that contributed to extend the Marine Protected Areas implementation was theconflicts of interest that emerged between those affected by them.La diversidad de fines que persiguen las Áreas Marinas Protegidas, remite a la necesidadde analizar los intereses que las justifican y las características que reúnen para alcanzarlos,a fin de prever su utilidad real. Las primeras propuestas de Reservas Marinas enTenerife comenzaron a desarrollarse en los años ochenta; sin embargo, todavía ningunade ellas se ha materializado. Mediante el análisis de fuentes documentales, entrevistas yobservación participante, se rescató el proceso histórico de dichos proyectos con el fin dedetectar las interacciones e iniciativas que contribuyeron al cambio de imágenes, metase intereses a los que respondieron. Los conflictos de interés que emergieron entre losafectados fueron uno de los factores que contribuyeron a prolongar la puesta en marchade las Áreas Marinas Protegidas.A diversidade dos propósitos que perseguem as Áreas Marinhas Protegidas exige analisaros interesses que os justificam, e as características que reúnem para atingi-los, com ointuito de prever sua utilidade real.
