The effect of implementing scientific enrichment activities on the achievement and creative thinking of talented students of 9th grade

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of implementing enrichment activities on 9th grade gifted students' science achievement and creative thinking at Sana'a schools – Yemen Republic.The study followed the semi-experimental methodology in collecting data from one group of 9th grade gifted students. The sample of the study was composed of 20 students, who were selected intentionally. The study was conducted during the year of 2009 / 2010 in Almeethaq School at Sana'a city. Such a school has a division for gifted students in Sana'a.The study instruments used in the study were a developed multiple choice science achievement test, and Torrance test for creative thinking, which was adopted to be used by Yemeni students. The students were taught two units ofscience curriculum which were enriched by science activities. Several styles of statistics were used to analyse data, such as means, standards divisions, and T. test, were used to analyse data of the study and answering its questions. The results of the study were as follows:1. There is a statically significant difference at (0.01) level between pre and post achievement test means of the study group, in favour of the post achievement test mean.2. There is a statically significant difference at (0.01) level between pre and post Torrance test for creative thinking means for the study group, in favour of the posttest mean.3. There is no statically significant correlation between means of achievement test and the test for creative thinking.Based on such results, the study came up with several recommendations and suggestions.
