The farm enlisted the help of various engineering undergraduates to investigate the requirements and to determine whether pursuing this venture would prove to be a worthwhile investment. The team assessed the initial process and investment and submitted a triple bottom line assessment. The land of the farm was surveyed and due to the vigorous growth rate and lack of maintenance, red alder was chosen by the team as the crop of choice.
