The potential issues and challenges for sustainable community and regional development in the north indicate a need for senior levels of government to begin thinking about establishing regulations for the use of fly-in/fly-out resource camps. As northern Canada becomes increasingly globalised, external factors are changing the way the region participates in the global economy, particularly with respect to resource extraction.
