Recent development in language teaching beyond the functional approach focusses on content-based language learning. This thesis reports on issues raised in the implementation and evaluation of a content-based curriculum designed for international students participating in a summer English language program. Data for evaluating the curriculum is qualitative and includes information from interviews and questionnaires completed by instructors involved in teaching on the program. Instructors' concerns of content-based language teaching focus primarily on implementing this approach in the classroom and on the design of student tasks. Implementation strategies and priorities for the development of tasks in a content-based curriculum are identified...
