The purpose of the study was to explore the differences between certain behaviours of "Ss" from a Nigerian culture who have received secondary school instruction in science and those who have not. For comparison purposes, a third group of "Ss" who have never received any formal schooling was also included in the study. The behaviours of particular interest in the study were operationalized in terms of recommending to a person confronted with a non-school problem situation involving measurement a course of action based upon school learnings rather than on the traditions of the culture.
