The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the ownership of Vancouver's Central Business District. Primarily because the type of C.B.D. property owners can affect the growth and development of the C.B.D., knowledge of ownership patterns can be a useful tool of government. As the C.B.D. is a primary source of property tax revenue, local government is concerned with promoting the viability of this urban district. This aspect of urban economics, property ownership, is relatively unknown, and comparatively little practical research has been undertaken.
