PROFIL BERPIKIR REFLEKTIF SISWA DALAM PEMECAHAN MASALAH ALJABAR DITINJAU DARI GAYA KOGNITIF PADA SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 5 WONOMULYO SULBAR

The Research aims to describing the profile of SMPN 5 Wonomulyo Sulbar students’ reflective thinking in solving mathematics problems based on cognitive style (field independent and field dependent). The conclusion based on the test and interview results are: (1) able to explain what had been done, communicating ideas with symbols or pictures not with direct object, determining solutions purely with considerations, realizing the mistakes and able to fix it, and rechecking correct answers (FI) ; (2) able to explain what had been done, communicating ideas with symbols or pictures not with direct object, and determining solutions purely with considerations (FD). However, in terms of correlation of facts problems, the characteristics of students’ reflective thinking of FD type are: merely able to explain what had been done. Thus, students with FD type in solving algebra problem whether in task problem or correlations with facts problems did not show their characteristics of reflective thinking process namely did not recheck correct answer and did not realize the mistakes then fix it.
