In this chapter we show how the use of brain science in early years intervention ideas and practices reproduces inequalities through two processes: (i) it positions mothers as buffers who can mitigate against and overcome the effects of a harsh wider environment for their children; and (ii) it asserts the effacement of social divisions at the same time as it embeds a range of inequalities
