Le mura coloniali di Ariminum e il deposito monetale di fondazione con semuncia a «testa di Gallo»

The colonial walls of Ariminum and the deposit of coins with a “Gaulish head semuncia” Excavations made in Rimini, near the Arch of August, have brought to light remnants of the surrounding wall of the city, built on 268 BC, when the Latin colony was founded. At the bottom of the wall, on the outside, was discovered a votive deposit dating from the time of building. It included a sacrified dog, and three coins : two bronzes minted in the Ariminum colony and a “Gaulish head semuncia”. Offered in 268 BC or in the immediate aftertime, this deposit shows that the Rimini “Gaulish head” aes graue cannot be attributed to the Senones, but has been minted by the Roman shortly before the foundation of the colony, between 283 and 268 BC.Jacopo Ortalli, Les murs coloniaux d’Ariminum et le dépôt monétaire avec semuncia «à tête de Gaulois» Les fouilles effectuées à Rimini, à proximité de l’arc d’Auguste, ont mis au jour des vestiges du mur d’enceinte de la ville, érigé en 268 avant J.-C., lors de la fondation de la colonie latine.
