Women, Water and 'Wicked Problems': Community Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change in Northern Pakkoku, Myanmar

Myanmar has been identified as one of those developing countries whose populations are very highly exposed to the future risks associated with impacts of climate change and multiple hazards, including drought, flooding, landslide, and extreme temperatures, as well as wildfires, cyclones/storm surges, tsunami, and earthquakes. Northern Pakkoku in the dry zone of Magway Division, central Myanmar, is recognized by all socioeconomic indices as a very poor area where the challenges of climate change impacts and variation in rainfall and temperatures are compounding the difficulties of developing sustainable livelihoods from leached soils, unreliable water resources, and population growth
