La naissance d’une élite : le groupe parlementaire socialiste à l’épreuve de la transition démocratique en Espagne (1977-1982)

International audienceThis article attempts to establish a portrait of Socialist members of Parliament in Spain between 1977 and 1982. It also analyses the role of the Socialist parliamentary group in the process of political transition, in the opposition against the Christian Democratic government, and in the conquest of power by Felipe Gonzalez in 1982. Spanish Socialist members of Parliament accept the need to democratize the institutions with the adoption of a parliamentary monarchy, which was far from being the case in 1975-1977. At the same time, the PSOE is characterized by a culture of conflict inside the party and against the Christian Democratic government. Between consensus and conflict, reform and rupture, social-democrat moderation and Marxist orthodoxy, the PSOE went through a period of doubt concluded by the victory of a Social Democratic line and an ideological clarification. The Socialist parliamentary group has been a strong base for Felipe Gonzalez in his conquest of power and an important tribune for the leader of the PSOE.Cet article tente de dresser le portrait des parlementaires socialistes espagnols entre 1977 et 1982. Il analyse également le rôle du groupe parlementaire socialiste dans le processus de transition politique, puis d’opposition au gouvernement démocrate-chrétien et enfin dans la conquête du pouvoir par Felipe González en 1982. Députés et sénateurs socialistes espagnols acceptent la nécessité de démocratiser le régime en instaurant une monarchie parlementaire, ce qui était loin d’être évident en 1975-1977. Dans le même temps, le PSOE est marqué par une culture du conflit qui s’exprime à la fois à l’intérieur du parti et vis-à-vis du gouvernement démocrate-chrétien. Entre consensus et conflit, entre réforme et rupture, entre modération social-démocrate et orthodoxie marxiste, le PSOE a traversé une période de doutes et de querelles qui aboutit à la victoire d’une ligne social-démocrate en 1979 et à une clarification idéologique. Le groupe parlementaire a été une base de conquête du pouvoir pour Felipe González et le Parlement a été une importante tribune pour le leader du PSOE
