An album was a blank handbook of females' property. Upon the invitation of the woman owning it, the most prestigious writers of the period would write on its pages. Such male collaboration was a decisive practice in the XIXth century. To a great extent, it contributed to spreading artistic products among certain reading circles. Venezuelan women in possession of albums were in turn more inclined to reading literature and, later, to producing writings of a similar kind.
