In this article we discuss the teaching of Finnish and Estonian vocabulary to Finnish and Estonian students learning each other's language as a foreign language, and what kinds of issues should receive most attention. We classify difficult words which we have faced while teaching, and try to fi nd out why it is so difficult to find a good translation equivalent for them
