This article is about the relation between the city and the people with disability, in which thepurpose is to analyze, through bibliographical research, the city’s spatial (re) organization andhow adequate it is for people with disability. It is based on the premise that accessibility isfundamental so that people with disability can enjoy their rights as citizens and also have aneffective participation as inhabitants of the city’s environment. Four aspects had been focused: theinfluence of historical paradigms on the city’s spatial organization; the perception of thecontemporary city in terms of management and planning; how the spatial environment shows itselfto the people with disability; and the Universal Design understood as an alternati...
