Introduction: The family of a low birth weight baby faces new challenges on taking care of him after the hospital discharge, suffering a great impact when they get home, being in need of support to face the situation and to become adapted to the new reality in their lives. Objective: The aim of this study was to understand the support network and the type of support received by families in caring for low weight babies in the first six months after hospital discharge.
