Family agriculture public policies in Brazil<br>Políticas públicas para a agricultura familiar no Brasil

This article analyzes the relationship between some family agriculture public policies and their effects on the development of this type of agriculture in Brazil. It analyzes the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture – Pronaf, which has contributed strongly for the development of the sector , mainly in the Southern region of the country; the implementation of the Rural Social Welfare Program as a palliative to social exclusion; and the Food Acquisition Program –PAA which guarantees the purchasing of great part of family agriculture and cattle raising production. O presente artigo faz uma análise da relação entre algumas políticas públicas aplicadas ao setor agropecuário familiar, e seus efeitos para o desenvolvimento da agricultura familiar no Brasil. São analisados: o Programa Nacional de Fortalecimento da Agricultura Familiar – Pronaf, que vem contribuindo fortemente para o desenvolvimento do setor, principalmente na região Sul do país; a implementação da Previdência Social Rural como paliativo à exclusão social; e o Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos – PAA, que dá garantia de compra a parte da produção agropecuária familiar
