<b>Abstract</b><br> Mapping available data about otter (<em>Lutra lutra</em>) distribution according to the 10x10 km grid of the IGMI (Italian Geographical Military Institute) national maps on the scale of 1:25000, we evaluated a current otter range of 9900 km<sup>2</sup>, disjoined in two areas: Molise region in central Italy, and Basilicata, Campania, Calabria and Apulia in southern Italy.
