THE PECULIARITIES AND IDENTIFYING FEATURES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOCIAL CAPITAL OF UKRAINIAN SOCIETY

The article discusses the features and outstanding characteristics of the development of social capital of the Ukrainian society as one of the fundamental resources for the social and economic development of the country. The article is a summary of the analytical data of the sociological analyzes of Ukrainian and European research centers concerned with the problems of social capital.The article discusses the problems of analysis and evaluation of social capital, namely, analysis of the features and outstanding characteristics of the development of social capital, as the most important in the research of the development of social capital.The author proposes to analyze trends in social capital of the Ukrainian society in the light of the analysis and evaluation of selected social indicators that reflect the social processes taking place in the society. Among these indicators the author proposes to use the level of tolerance and xenophobia, volunteer, charitable, civic and political activity of the Ukrainian society etc.In order to analyze the proposed indicators, the author presents the data of native and foreign sociological and analytical research, which clearly illustrate the current trends of the social development of the Ukrainian society.At the end of the article the author comes to the conclusion that at present, the social cohesion of the Ukrainian society does not reach the state of the effective social capital, as it is differentiated by social status, regional differences and is not a mobilized social group. Despite the presence of a huge social potential, the Ukrainian society still tends to accumulate the negative social capital, the development of xenophobia, social amorphia and degradation.From a theoretical point of view, the article is significant for further analytical research of social capital of the Ukrainian society and finding solutions to the problems hindering the development of the positive social capital of the Ukrainian society
