Update on first-line treatment of advanced ovarian carcinoma

Maximal debulking surgery and chemotherapy with a platinum doublet have remained the standard of care for many years and new approaches are imperative. Recent clinical trials have given grounds for hope. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy, intraperitoneal delivery, and dose-dense strategies have all shown promising results, as has the targeting of angiogenesis. A greater understanding of the molecular landscape of ovarian cancer is helping to identify new treatment options.
