The paper analyses the comic’s role in science. The author associates the comic as well as tragedy with the existential aspirations of scientists. This gives rise to a different view of the phenomena which form a certain scientific theory. The comic is approached as a creative factor bringing science and the living world together. In the paper attention is paid to the insularity of scientific theories, scientific criteria, such as scientific jargon and propaganda, to the inertia of scientists’ thinking. According to the author, existential aspira-tions, which influence formation of scientists’ theoretical viewing, help to cope with all that.
