Introduction. Depression as a cause of stress increase free radicals in serum. It can oxidize lipids and result in atherosclerosis. Kinds of these products are malondialdhyde (MAD), conjugated diene (CD) and antioxidants capacity. Methods. Two groups of patients with major deppressive disorder (MDD) were studied. Group one consisted of fifthy patients with unipolar MDD, second group was bipolar MDD and third one was control healthy ones. Diagnosis was cofirmed by DSM-IV. Beck test was used to follow up patients. Before and after three month of treatment, MAD, CO and antioxidants capacity were compaired in three groups. Results.
