Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is material widely used in dentistry. Despite the various methods used to initiate the polymerization of acrylic resins, the conversion of monomer to polymer is not complete thus leaving some unreacted methyl methacrylate (MMA), known as residual monomer (RM), in denture structure. RM in dental acrylic resins has deleterious effects on their mechanical properties and their biocompatibility.
