For the recognition of the anatomical pattern of the mesenteric arteries, ten adults nutria (Myocastor coypus), males and females, were dissected, and the following results were obtained: a) The cranial mesenteric artery appears from the ventral face of the abdominal aorta, close to the celiac artery (70%), or as a common trunk with it (30%). b) The direct branches of the cranial mesenteric artery are the caudal pancreaticoduodenal (100%), middle colic (100%), duodenojejunal (90%), pancreatic (10%), hepatic (10%), right colic (100%), jejunal (100%), ileocolic (100%) and ileal (100%) arteries.
