This essay presents two contributions of the Amartya Sen to the debates over ethics and economics. First, his break with utilitarianist and welfarist ethics -the foundation of normative economics- and his call to modify the metrics of utility, the only 'field of information' that these normative traditions use to judge individual and social welfare, that is, people's opportunities, the impact of public policies and the<br />success of social organizations. Second, his proposal for a valorization scheme that transcends the narrow conception of utilitarianism, which does not fall into ethical relativism and which incorpora tes the analysis of real rights and freedoms without taking refuge in deontological moral reasoning. With that, he demonstrates that one of his greatest contributions<br />to normative economics is his effort to construct a framework<br />for pluralist and consequentialist (based on consequences) moral evaluation, which abandons the criterion of utility, allows the evaluation of the level of people's real freedom, and admits the possibility of a moral 'objective' sensitive to the life plans of individuals and to the achievement or fail of their rights.Este ensayo presenta dos aportes de Amartya Sen a las discusiones sobre ética y economía. Primero su ruptura con la ética utilitarista y bienestarista -fundamento de la economía normativa- y su llamado a modificar la métrica de la utilidad, unico 'ambito de información' que estas tradiciones normativas usan para juzgar el bienestar individual y social, es decir, las oportunidades de las personas, el impacto de las politicas públicas y el éxito de las organizaciones sociales. Segundo, su propuesta de un esquema de valoración que trascienda la concepción estrecha del utilitarismo, que no caiga en el relativismo ético y que incorpore el análisis de los derechos y las libertades reales sin acojer al razonamiento moral deontológico. Con ello se muestra que una de sus mayores contribuciones a la economía normativa es su esfuerzo por elaborar un marco de evaluacion moral pluralista y concecuencialista (basado en concecuencias) que abandone el criterio de utilidad, permita evaluar el grado de libertad real de las personas y admita la posibilidad de una moral 'objetiva' sensible a los planes de vida de los individuos y al cumplimiento o incumplimiento de sus derechos
