The objective of the present work is to analyze some excerpts of the translation of the biblical book Qohélet, carried out by Haroldo de Campos (1991), into Portuguese, and Martin Buber (1997), into German. The analysis is based on the principles of the relevance theory (Sperber & Wilson, 1986/1995) and on the works of Gutt (1992/2000a/2000b) and Alves (2001a/2001b), who apply this theory to the Translation Studies. In accordance with their translational agenda, Campos and Buber aspire to a Hebraization of their respective languages. In an analysis that applies this aspect as a guideline, it is important to investigate resemblances and differences in the respective agendas and their influence on the respective target texts.
