In this study, it was evaluated changes in pulmonary function in 50 individuals (obese children and adolescents) belonging to two groups: overweight and control, subjected to the test of pulmonary function through the analysis of the following parameters: slow vital capacity (SVL), peak expiratory flow (PEF) and respiratory muscle strength determined by maximum respiratory pressure (Pimax and Pemax). The SVC for the overweight group was 3.0 ± 0.7 liters, and the control group of 3.49 ± 0.9 liters (p = 0.0490). The PEF for the overweight group of 336 ± 107.4, and the control group of 386 ± 55.5 (p = 0.0404).
