126th Session of Council

Following the recommendation of the Committee of Council at its meeting on 18 September 2003, Council is invited to approve the Draft Protocol set out in the Annex of the attached document (CERN/CC/2508). In accordance with Article 23, paragraph 1, the Protocol will be open, for a period of one year, for signature from the date of its adoption by the Council by the States parties to the CERN Convention and also by the States which have concluded a Co-operation or an Association Agreement with the Organization. In agreement with UNESCO, which is the depositary of the Protocol, CERN is currently planning a signature ceremony at the March 2004 Council Session. To that end, CERN will, after the approval of the Draft Protocol by Council, contact the Member State Delegations and all other States concerned with a view to the detailed preparation of this event
